Possible 2019 Lexus LC F Prototype Spied In California

Rumors of a high-performance F version of the LC has been floating around since last year, with anonymous insider leaks hinting towards a V8 powerplant. Though Lexus has not officially made an announcement of its existence, what may be the Lexus LC F prototype has been spied sitting in a parking lot in California.

Though the front and rear are covered by black camouflage, AutoGuide does say it has new front vents on either side of the iconic Lexus grille. Running along its side are reworked skirts, which leads to a modified rear valance panel. Also notable is the car’s right-hand drive configuration; perhaps hinting towards limited global availability.

Of course there’s no indication that what we’re looking at is indeed the Lexus LC F coupe, but with the extra camouflage one can expect to see a new LC variant of some kind. If it really is the F version, then we may see a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 engine deliver an estimated 621 horsepower. The outgoing LC 500 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds and top out at 168 mph. Combine the V8 engine with a 7% reduction in body weight and the LC F should produce even better numbers.

Whatever the prototype may be, one can hope that Lexus plans to reveal a few crumbs of information at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Could very well be a higher performance trim if we look at where the side camouflage it. Looks like there's a large air vent in front of the rear fender for aerodynamic improvements. Maybe this is the Lexus LC F or it may be another variant that will sit below the 621 horsepower threshold.

It definitely shares a bunch of the styling cues of the LC500, but there is really no indication of what trim level it could be. I've heard there are even rumours of a hybrid powertrain that could accompany the 500hp variant. I'm really looking forward to seeing the convertible version, but I don't think that's until 2020.

Its lower ride height sort of gives away the fact its some higher performing version. I think it could even be an LC500 F-Sport. At this rate what they need more than anything are F-Sport models that can rival BMW's equivalent. Doing that can get them good volume of sales all while still pushing the F-Sport brand, thus leaving more effort for full F models.
