Late update, but we found a 2019 in a spec that suits our needs well. Nice to be able to run WAZE and Spotify right on the main screen.
The next progression will be wireless. Only a couple dozen vehicles out there have it, so the question becomes, “can our cars ever be updated to this if they have carplay and bluetooth?”
Currently you have to start the car, unlock your phone, plug it into usb, give it a few seconds, navigate to carplay (center of screen at bottom), click, enjoy. I’d want waze to come on automatically like the sound system, and have immediate voice interface. “Where are we going?”
It’s still great to have though. When first driving the car I did not see a good place to put the phone. Eventually I figured out to get a four inch usb cable and put the phone away in the console. The car will everything for us, “on its own”
