What Toyota should do with the Supra

Make up another name for the Bimmer thing. Then take our 500, dumb it down a bit, get rid of that Lexus front grill, put a Supra like wing on it. Take off enough nice stuff to lose some weight and there you have it. What we all expected for a new Supra.

2005 Lotus Elise, supercharged, full track
2011 Lotus Evora S Racing Heritage #3 of 4
2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Best car on the road.
2015 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO (our third Tundra tow vehicle)
2015 Honda Civic Si, great little daily
2019 Lexus LC 500, 2019 McLaren 570S Oh my!

After I saw the post with the old Supra superimposed with the LC I believe the LC has to be what they intended the new Supra to be. Instead of dumbing it down they dialed it up to compete on a higher scale thus taking away the affordability of the Supra namesake. Enter the LC.

Makes sense. What is now the LC was the new Supra, but they rethought it as too much car to be a Toyota. They came up with the little Bimmer half breed thing and promoted the actual Supra to Lexus status.

Our LC really is what I was expecting as a Supra. Minus the bigger wing.

I think the RC is much closer to what the Supra should have been but for some people, even that's going too far. Sadly, Toyota/Lexus is saving all the goodies for Lexus and leaving the Toyota boys dreaming with the new Supra.

They should revisit the LF1 concept and place a Toyota developed (or Lexus) powertrain under the hood. Taking a mass market sports car approach to what was originally meant to be a supercar rival, wasn't a great decision to begin with.

There are growing rumors of a possible Supra SUV, which to me indicates that Toyota could care less about the legacy of that badge. Pretty sad to see considering the amount of long term enthusiasts the previous gen models still have.

Oh my that's horrible. I understand that Toyota may want to release a sporty SUV that sits above the C-HR, but why ruin the Supra badge in the process? What a letdown the A90 is becoming.

Saw, and heard, a genuine Supra yesterday. What a car. And what a shame they put its name on that new thing.
